MANILA, Philippines - Keen competition is seen in the Philippine Senior Amateur Golf Championships with the field raring to end Iggy Clavecilla’s domination of the event slated June 16-18 at Mt. Malarayat in Lipa, Batangas City.
The organizing National Golf Association of the Philippines said this year’s battle in the centerpiece Open division is expected to be close with former champions Francis Gaston and Rolly Viray out to score a repeat and foil Clavecilla’s bid for a fifth straight victory.
Joining the hunt for the crown in the three-day event among the country’s top golfing elders are Pepot Iñigo, Caloy Coscoluella, Bing Bunye and Luigi Yulo, according to tournament director Pablo Soon.
Trophies, courtesy of Jonathan Cruz of I-Golf Club Trading, will be awarded to the top finishers in various categories. Fabulous items will also be raffled off during the awards rites, said NGAP seniors committee chair Comm. Danilo Pizarro.
