MANILA, Philippines - The Philippine dragon boat team competes in three races this month as part of their buildup for the 16th Asian Games in Guangzhou, China in November.
The squad leaves for Taipei today to vie in the Taipei International Dragon Boat Championship on Saturday at the Taipei City Dajia Port.
They will next compete in the Macau International Standard Dragon Boat Race on June 16 before heading to China for the ninth Zhaoqing International Dragon Boat Races on June 18-19.
Philippine Dragon Boat Federation technical director Nestor Ilagan said the top dragon boat racers in the world, led by the European, Asian and North American countries, are competing in the three races.
The squad is also scheduled to participate in the Asian Games test event in Guangzhou Lake, the venue of the Asian Games, in August.
