Miranda powers Eagle Ridge in PBC kegfest

MANILA, Philippines - National bowler Raoul Miranda displayed fine form as he powered Eagle Ridge to victory in the Philippine Bowling Congress Inter-Commercial Team Challenge at the Paeng’s Midtown Bowl inside the Robinson’s Place in Ermita, Manila over the weekend.

The defending masters champion of the PBC International Open Tenpin Bowling Championships sparkled with lines of 265, 243 and 225 for a three-game series of 733, and a 244.3 average, in lifting the team to a winning tally of 3,297.

Ranny Baquir (705), Eric Bautista (674), Edgar Sebastian (594) and Edgar Pangilinan (591) were the other scorers for the Eagle Ridge keglers, who pocketed the top prize of P12,000 in the event firing off the 39th edition of the country’s biggest bowling championship.

Stewart Ngo showed the way for Picadilly Star with a 723 (245, 212, 266) series, which, bagged runner-up honors with 3,236 pinfalls plus P9,000 in the tourney sponsored by UPHS Dalta and Jonelta Systems, Pagcor Sports, DOT, PSC, PCSO, Amway and Colgate Palmolive.

On the other hand, Globe 1, banking on Sherwin Navarro’s 696, pooled 3,140 to place third worth P6,000.

While Globe 2 and the Bowler tied for fourth spot with similar tallies of 3,117 apiece and split the P3,000 pot.

“We hope that events like these will encourage more Filipinos to take up bowling,” said PBC secretary general Bong Coo of the side tournament that featured the “9-Pin No Tap” format.
