MANILA, Philippines - Forward Taguig and Foscon Ship Management dispute the MBL Open basketball crown tonight at the Lyceum gym in Intramuros.
Gametime is at 8 p.m. with odds just about even in the one-game playoff between the two league newcomers.
Foscon clinched the first finals berth by beating No. 2 seed Wang’s Ballclub twice, 98-68 and 85-64, in the crossover semifinals of this eight-team tournament supported by Smart Communications, Dickies Underwear, PRC Managerial Services, WG Diner and Victory Liner.
Forward Taguig, which swept the elimination round, earned the right to meet Foscon by eliminating last year’s champion Lyceum of the Philippines-Showa, 102-86, at the RTU gym in Mandaluyong City last Saturday.
Smart Sports head Patrick Gregorio has been invited to grace the awards rites.
Gregorio will be assisted by MBL chaiman Alex Wang of Wang’s Ballclub, tournament director Albert Andaya and commissioner Loreto “Ato” Tolentino.
