MANILA, Philippines - The country’s grandest bowling event, the 39th PBC Philippine International Open Tenpin Bowling Championships, rolls off today at the Paeng’s Midtown Bowl at the Robinson’s Place in Ermita, Manila.
Organized by the Philippine Bowling Congress, the two-week keg showcase features the elite of tenpin bowling elite from Asia and the Middle East and offers a total cash pot of P2 million to the winners.
“It’s our great honor to host the 39th edition of the Philippine International Open Tenpin Bowling Championships, which promises to be another exciting and thrilling event for our Filipino sports fans,” PBC president Nitoy Tamayo said.
For the second year in a row, the event will be held at the world-class 38-lane Paeng’s Midtown Bowl in the tourney sponsored by UPHS Dalta and Jonelta Systems, Pagcor Sports, DOT, PSC, PCSO, Amway and Colgate Palmolive.
Spearheading the local challenge are former world masters champion Biboy Rivera, reigning men’s masters kingpin Raoul Miranda, World Games bronze medalist Liza del Rosario, Liza Clutario, and Krizziah Tabora, who won the women’s master title in 2008.
Bowling icon Paeng Nepomuceno, who manages the Midtown Bowl, will also take part in the tourney.
