MANILA, Philippines - Philippine Volleyball Federation (PVF) vice-president Gener Dungo has expressed interest to hire Filipino-American players for men and women indoor and beach volleyball to represent the national team in future international competitions.
Dungo said the Fil-Ams will improve the level of strength and capability of the national indoor and beach volleyball teams in all aspect, especially when they compete in Southeast Asian Games and Asian Games, among other events.
“I will personally go to US and look for Fil-Am players anytime this year, while we are still in the process of training our local players to beef our line-up,” said Dungo, who suggested his plan to the PVF board recently.
“This is a great preparation for us in future international tournaments.”
Dungo, who will spearhead the project, said he is planning to get at least six Fil-Ams each for men and women’s indoor teams and at two for men and women beach volleyball.
“After bringing the Fil-Ams here, PVF will find individual sponsor for each team division men and women in indoor and one sponsor for beach volley men and women team.”
