TnT-QC, Derby Ace juniors demolish rivals in opener

MANILA, Philippines - Batang Talk n Text-Quezon City and Batang B-Meg Derby Ace-Caloocan posted lopsided victories yesterday at the start of the Powerade Batang PBA Pilipinas Championship at the old San Juan gym.

Jolo Mendoza scored 35 points and John Vincent Gallego added 25 as defending champion TnT-QC dumped Powerade Batang Baguio, 103-19, in Group A.

Batang Derby Ace-Caloocan, on the other hand, demolished Powerade Batang Zamboanga, 73-36, behind the exploits of Aljun Melecio and Patrick Cagara, who had 17 points apiece, in Group B action.

Michael Mendoza led Powerade Batang Baguio with six points while Vince Louie Oga scored eight points to show the way for Powerade Batang Zamboanga.

Meanwhile, TnT-QC guns for its second straight win as it takes on Powerade Batang Bacolod at 11 a.m. at the Astrodome.

In other games, Powerade Batang Bacolod blasted Powerade Batang Davao, 69-44, in Group A while Powerade Batang Cebu overpowered Powerade Batang Batangas, 65-42, in Group B.
