Patrombon tests Serbian mettle
MANILA, Philippines - Jeson Patrombon goes up against a Serbian qualifier while Francis Casey Alcantara vies in doubles as they open their respective campaigns in the French Open Juniors Championship at the Roland Garros clay courts today.
Patrombon takes on qualifier Miki Jankovic of Serbia in one of the matches kicking off hostilities in the boys’ singles. He will also team up with Ahmed Triki of Tunisia as they collide with Romain Arneodo and Mathias Bourque of France in the first round of the boys’ doubles competitions.
Alcantara, on the other hand, will not see action in the singles but will compete in the doubles event with Fil-Am Raymond Sarmiento.
Alcantara and Sarmiento square off with Filip Horansky and Jozef Kovalik of Slovakia in the first round.
The winner of the Patrombon-Jankovic match-up will face either ninth-seed Duilio Beretta of Peru or Gregoire Barrere of France in the second round.
