MANILA, Philippines – Alexandra Nacpil, Hans Ramos and Sean Terence Zamora each won two gold medals in the British International School-Phuket Invitational age group swimming meet last weekend in Phuket, Thailand.
Nacpil ruled the 100m backstroke with a time of one minute, 19.57 seconds and the 50m backstroke in 36.64 seconds in the 11-12 age group of the meet which drew over 300 participants from China, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, the Philippines and host Thailand.
Ramos, competing in the 11-12 category, took also two golds and a silver medal, winning the gold in the 100m breaststroke in 1:24.61 and the 50m breaststroke in 37.84 seconds. He took the silver in the 50m freestyle in 29.81 seconds.
Sean Terence Zamora bagged the gold in the 100m butterfly in 1:18.33 and the 50m butterfly in 35.03 seconds. He also clinched the bronze in the 50m backstroke in 39.90 seconds.
Other medal winners were Inaki Lorbes, Andre Abacahin, Hilario Davide IV, Josef dos Remedios, EJ Lorbes, Anton Abacahin and Jan Karlo Fausto, who won three silver medals and one bronze in the medley relay and freestyle relay events.
“It was a tough and fast competition. Our boys and girls competed with some nationals from other ASEAN age groupers that will compete in the Philippines next month, being a host country,” said coach Susan Papa, head of the school named after her. “We are all proud of them – all improved their best time with the two-week training camp.”
