Manilans lord it over in Baguio tennis

-

BAGUIO , Philippines  – Argil Lance Canizares and Erika Manduriao typified Manila’s dominance in the 11th leg of the Smart/Head Junior Tennis Satellite Circuit 2010 after ruling their respective divisions here at the Baguio Tennis Club Athletic Bowl in Burnham Park.

The 14-year-old Canizares, who lost to a more experienced and more superior rival Arjohn dela Cruz in the 16-under boys division, came back charging and stamped his class in the 14-under category by defeating Vince Salas of Pampanga, 6-3, 7-5, in this event presented by staunch tennis backer Manny Pangilinan, chairman of Smart Sports, in cooperation with Head, Chris Sports, Toalson and Meralco.

Canizares was named one of the top performers in this leg along with Manduriao, who asserted her dominance in the 12-under girls division by nearly blanking local bet Monica Cortez, 6-0, 6-1.

Canizares and Manduriao received brand-new cellphones and loads from Smart Communications as well as tennis equipment from Head in this ranking tournament sanctioned by the Philippine Tennis Association.
