MANILA, Philippines - Erstwhile leader Anthony Go of JCT-Blanche Racing will try to regain the solo lead as he gears up for another showdown with defending champion Jonathan Tiu today in the fifth leg of the 2010 Magnolia Purewater National Drag Racing Championship Series at the Batangas Racing Circuit drag strip.
Go skidded to second place following Tiu’s crucial triumph in the premier Pro class last month in this event sponsored by Magnolia Pure Water and supported by San Miguel Corp., Yokohama Tires, Pagcor Sports, Aeromed, Chequered Flag and Stoplight TV.
With hopes of snapping Tiu’s six straight title feat, Go vowed to go all out for the crucial win to bounce back on top of this series sanctioned by the Automobile Association Philippines.
Go currently holds 40 points, just five points behind Tiu and has done pivotal adjustments on his Honda Hatchback to keep up with the power of the latter’s Mitsubishi Evo 5.
“I’m keeping my fingers crossed that the adjustment on the car setup will work well not only against Tiu, but also against the other strong contenders,” said Go, referring to teammate Ed Christian Go, and Vannitec’s Mato Tan, Vanni Garcia and RP’s fastest lady driver When When Dagondon, who are also raring to stop Tiu’s domination of the event.
