Benting-Gata tops volley tilt

-

MANILA, Philippines - Adamson U’s Angela Benting and Lizlee Ann Gata bucked the late surge of rivals Asia Urquico and Sharah So of Ateneo to rule the PCSO Metro-Manila Women’s Beach Volleyball Open before a huge Saturday crowd at the Cantada Sports Center in Taguig City.

The Benting-Gata duo easily took the first set but needed to foil Urquico-So comeback, 21-9, 21-19, in the event organized by Joe Cantada Sports and supported by the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office, Tanduay, Cobra Energy Drink and Speedo.

“It was a good fight, and everybody had fun,” said organizer Edgardo “Boy” Cantada. “We will have more of this kind of tournament at Joe Cantada Sports.”

A total of 11 teams from Ateneo, Adamson U, FEU, Letran, San Beda Alabang and JRU participated in the event.
