FEU, UST stay alive for semis

-

MANILA, Philippines - Far Eastern University and University of Santo Tomas beat their respective rivals to force another match in the quarterfinals of the 3rd-Freego Filipino-Chinese Basketball League (FCBL) Cup last Tuesday at the Phil. Buddhacare Gym in Quezon City.

The Baby Tams demolished Jose Rizal University, 98-88, while the Tiger Cubs turned back Ateneo, 90-82, to stay in the hunt for the semifinals berth of the annual high school cagefest also presented by Smart Communications.

Mico Custodio and Austin Fabian put up solid games to lead FEU against the Light Bombers, who failed to capitalize on their twice-to-beat edge.

Custodio scored 24 points and grabbed 12 rebounds for the Baby Tams and was named the Freego Best Player of the Game. Fabian had 23 points highlighted by four triples to bag the Energen Best 3-Point Shooter of the contest.
