MANILA, Philippines - Florene delos Santos and guest partner Chino Raymundo bested the field with a combined 142 as they captured the overall gross team championship in the Southwoods Invitational at the Manila Southwoods in Carmona, Cavite last week.
Delos Santos and Raymundo matched par 72 at the Legends course then fired a two-under 70 at the Masters layout for that 142 to lead the winners in the 36-hole, member-guest tournament spread over four days.
Butch Brodett and guest partner Philip Brodett carded two 82s under the Modified Aggregate Stableford scoring system to emerge the overall net team champion with 164 points.
Danny Gutierrez and partner Cezar Castro assembled rounds of 82 and 80 for a 162, edging Cres Bendijo and Vic Onilla for the Division I in the annual event presented by Whealth Inc. and sponsored by Mitsubishi Phils., Dynamic Sports (Titlist), Golforce, Inc., McJim, Pisanti Golf, PLDT, Rudy Project, Tour Master Golf, Inc. (Mizuno/Taylor Made), Vita 500 Gold, Unilab (Conzace), Warbird and Wilson Sports. Bendijo and Onilla pooled a 160 from rounds of 81 and 79.
Henry Ng teamed up with Alex Chen for two 82s and a 164 as they matched Lal Palliyaguru and Tonton San Diego output to win the Division II crown with a low team handicap.
Arlette Dizon and Carina Ricamonte topped Division III with a 162 from rounds of 82 and 80, nipping Alfredo de Ocampo and Joven Liwanag (82-79-161), while Bernie Sevilla and Vic Esguerra fired 80 and 82 points for a 162 then edged Emeterio Dikitanan and Elsie Castor (80-82) with a low team handicap for the Division IV plum.
