Wynne working on PBA return

- Kristina Villanueva -

MANILA, Philippines - Suspended Air 21 guard Wynne Arboleda could make an earlier PBA comeback provided he completes the requirements set by league commissioner Sonny Barrios.

Arboleda, banned for a year without pay after hitting Smart Gilas fan Alain Katigbak in a PBA game last October, is required by the league to attend cage clinics, help out in the rehabilitation of houses in Gawad Kalinga and head reading sessions with children.

Barrios is currently waiting for Arboleda’s documentations validating all his activities to re-assess the case.

“Wynne’s suspension was a landmark decision since it’s a form of suspension without pay. I think that’s the first time we did that and you know how hard it is if you would not receive a salary for half a year,” said Barrios. “Wynne has attended the basketball clinics of Norman Black twice and he would head the reading sessions of the PBA on non-Air 21 game days at the Araneta Coliseum. All I’m waiting for is a documentation that he is supposed to submit.”

The PBA chief said that he had already talked with Arboleda last month regarding the latter’s appeal for his suspension.

“We are positively addressing his case,” said Barrios. “Most probably, within this week, we could tackle it.”
