Bayron 2nd in Indonesian Open
MANILA, Philippines - The Philippines’ Jay Bayron waged a searing final-round charge in the Kariza Indonesia Championship but lost to Thai Thanyakon Khrongpha in a playoff, thus, settling for a third straight second place finish in the Mercedes-Benz Asean PGA Tour.
Bayron, the first-round leader who slowed down in the next two rounds, had looked on the way to victory but lost a precious stroke on a bogey on the 14th hole.
Khrongpha sank two birdies in the last four holes to force the playoff. He went on to steal the championship worth $8,126.
Bayron earned $5,616 for his second-place finish.
Juvic Pagunsan, the leader after the third round, struggled with an even-par 72 in the final round and finished tied at fifth place with another Filipino Antonio Lascuña at 12-under 276 – two strokes behind Khrongpha and Bayron.
