Shakey's girl volley quarterfinal unfolds

MANILA, Philippines - Girls volley action heats up today with six teams, led by Hope Christian School and San Antonio de Padua, clashing in the quarterfinal round of the Shakey’s Girls Volleyball League seventh season at the Arellano gym.

The Hope CS and the SADP tossers capped their domination of the elims by beating Valenzuela National High School and UP Integrated School, respectively, to complete a four-game sweep of their respective brackets.

Hope trounced VNHS, 25-22, 25-4, in Bracket A while SADP downed UPIS, 25-10, 25-6, in Bracket B to lead four other teams in today’s quarterfinal matches, a knockout phase where the winners advance to the round-robin semis among three teams set May 13.

Hope battles Imus Institute at 10 a.m. while SADP takes on University of Perpetual Help Laguna in the 11 a.m. game of the tournament sponsored by Shakey’s Pizza and backed by Toby’s Sports, Dunkin’ Donuts, Mikasa and Asics.

UST and Angeles Univ. Foundation clash in the other quarter match at 1 p.m.
