Mendoza gets fresh mandate at NGAP

-

MANILA, Philippines - Executive Secretary and National Golf Association of the Phils. president Leandro Mendoza the other day vowed to continue the NGAP’s various programs, including promoting the sport further and identifying talents who can be trained and developed to become members of the national team.

The NGAP board has given Mendoza a fresh two-year mandate as president of the golf body during its first board meeting last Thursday at Malacañang. The NGAP held its biennial elections two weeks ago at the Philippine Ports Authority.

“I assure the body that our association will continue to pursue its desire to promote the game of golf and to identify potential amateur golfers who can be trained to be topnotch caliber golfers for the country and eventually in the world,” said Mendoza, on his third term as president of the country’s governing body for amateur golf.

Rod Feliciano also retained his position of chairman of the NGAP while Commodore Danilo Pizarro stays as NGAP vice president. Edgar Joselito Arceo Jr. is the new secretary-general who will also be in charge of the handicapping and course rating, while Pablo Soon is the new treasurer and Alice Ll. Andrada the new auditor.

Soon will also head the NGAP committee on tournaments, including the annual staging of the Philippine Open while Tommy Manotoc, who topped the NGAP polls, will be the man at the helm of the young and golf development program, including the national pool and the formation of the RP team for various international competitions.

Other NGAP officials are Caloy Coscoluella (rules and grounds and amateur status), Andrada (finance and ladies), Jun Galindez (membership), Pizarro (seniors), Jose Vilchez (awards) and Federico Agcaoili (legal).
