Unknown foe makes waves in Toby's tennis

-

MANILA, Philippines - Unseeded Daniel Villasenor needed only two sets to dispose of No. 8 seed Jammie Delapaz with a 6-4, 6-4 win in the 16 years old and under category of the ninth Toby’s Sports-Prince Summer Tennis Festival.

Employing perfect ground strokes and precision baseline shots, Villasenor gave Delapaz a thorough beating.

“I am happy that I was hitting the ball at the right time and making shots that are on target. My game plan is really to use my ground strokes and baseline game so I can dictate the tempo of the game as early as the first set,” said Villasenor.

The 16-year old Delapaz appeared to regain his composure in the latter part of the first and second set but the consistent play of Villasenor closed the door for Delapaz. “Medyo minalas ako ngayon at medyo erratic ang plays ko. It’s just that Daniel was the better player today and I am looking forward to meeting him again in other tennis tournaments” said Delapaz.
