MANILA, Philippines - Multi-tilted Wang’s Ballclub demolished Rizal Technological University, 109-85, to launch its title campaign on a high note in the 2010 MBL Open basketball tournament at the RTU gym in Mandaluyong.
Veterans Mario Reyes, Romer Diaz and ex-pro Biboy Simon carried the scoring load for the Mac-Mac Auto Sales-supported Wang’s Ballclub, which dominated the game from start to finish en route to its first win in this eight-team tournament organized by the MBL and supported by Smart Communications, Dickies Underwear and PRC Managerial Services.
Reyes scattered 18 points, Diaz added 17 points and Simon contributed 15 for the Mandaluyong-based team, which is seeking to win another title under the newly formed tandem of coach Pablo Lucas and manager Alex Wang.
Former MBL MVP Anthony Cuevas contributed 12 points and 10 rebounds while Republic of Cameroon player Romeo Fotue added 10 points for Wangs.
Alwin Elinon topscored for the Beaujinh Acot-mentored Thunder with 21 markers.
In the other game, Lyceum-Showa toppled PJS Law Firm, 69-56, to finally barge into the win column after three losses.
Joseph Abaya scored 12 points in a balanced attack for the Bonnie Tan-mentored Lyceum-Showa, which is also being supported by Ocean Fresh and Tonni’s Sport Depot.
