Guioguio joint 5th with 76
MANILA, Philippines - Lovelynn Guioguio slowed down with a three-over 76 and slid to joint fifth with Cecilia Cho of New Zealand, four shots behind new leader Joma Eri of Japan halfway through the NZ Women’s Stroke Play Championship at the Napier Golf Club in New Zealand Thursday.
Guioguio, who started the round in joint second with Caroline Bon three strokes off Caryn Khoo, also of NZ, had a one-over card after 12 holes but faltered with two more bogeys in the last six holes under windy conditions at the par-71 layout.
With a 149 aggregate, the ICTSI-backed Guioguio stood four shots off Eri, who recovered from a woeful opening of 77 with the day’s lone under par round – a five-under 68 – for a 36-hole haul of 145.
That was one-stroke ahead of Bon, who matched par 73 for the second straight day while Zoe Brake, also of New Zealand, also carded a 73 for a 147, the same output put in by Khoo, who sputtered with a 77 after a solid 70 in the first round.
Cho also had a 73 for a share of fifth.
with Guioguio. Chihiro Ikeda also rebounded from a woeful 83 with a 73, jumping from out of nowhere to joint 19th to make the cut although she remained too far behind Eri at 156, 11 shots off.
