Armstrong to train Jr. NBA All-Star hopefuls

MANILA, Philippines - NBA legend BJ Armstrong will be in Manila April 16-18 to provide NBA-style training to participants in the Jr. NBA National Training Camp at the Jose Rizal University gym in Mandaluyong.

Armstrong, a three-time NBA champion and one-time NBA All-Star, played 11 seasons in the NBA for Chicago Bulls, Golden State Warriors, Charlotte Hornets, and Orlando Magic where he accumulated 7,319 points, 1,321 rebounds, and 2,479 assists.

The 6-2 point guard is best remembered for playing alongside Michael Jordan, Scottie Pippen, Horace Grant, and John Paxson in the Chicago Bulls’ first three-peat from 1991 to 1993.

At the Jr. NBA National Training Camp, Armstrong and US Jr. NBA coach Frank Lopez will train 40 participants who will vie for eight slots on the Jr. NBA Philippines All-Star t

eam, which will also compete with other international Jr. NBA teams.

Fans will also have a chance to see Armstrong at the Hi-Smart multivitamins-sponsored exclusive meet and greet and autograph signing event on April 18, 5 p.m. at the Music Hall of the SM Mall of Asia in Pasay City.

Jr. NBA is the leading youth basketball program that teaches the fundamentals of sportsmanship and promotes the importance of health and nutrition. It was introduced in the Philippines in 2007 through a pilot program conducted in selected private and public schools in Metro Manila.
