Grim day for Juvic, Pucay in Myanmar
MANILA, Philippines - Juvic Pagunsan recovered from a poor second round to card a two-under-par 70 while Mars Pucay submitted a second straight one-under 71 as the two Filipino bets moved up to 25th place after the penultimate round of the Myanmar Open at the Pun Hlaing Golf Club in Yangon yesterday.
Another Filipino Ferdie Aunzo failed to sustain the momentum of back-to-back under-par rounds, struggling with a 75 to fall from 13th place to 45th.
Antonio Lascuña had a 71 for a three-day aggregate of 214, good for joint 58th in the tourney still paced by Tesuji Hiratsuka of Japan.
Hiratsuka slowed down with a 69, losing two precious strokes to the rallying Prayad Marksaeng of Thailand.
The Japanese leader enjoys a three-stroke lead over Marksaeng at the start of the final round.
Another Japanese shotmaker in Hideto Tanihara is at third (67-204), two shots ahead of Thai Thawom Wiratchant (70-206).
The Filipinos hope to make a last-round charge to finish inside the Top 10.
