LIPA, Batangas , Philippines – Canlubang widened the gap to 20 points in Division I as Miguel Tabuena kept his fiery form by cracking par for the second straight time after the penultimate round Tuesday of the Jungolf Interclub golf championships at the Mt. Malarayat Golf and Country Club course here.
Alabang, meanwhile, remained in the hunt for two titles after surging to a 21-point lead in Division III and hanging on to a tie with Camp Aguinaldo in Division II going into the final round of action of this curtain-raiser of the 2010 ICTSI Jungolf Summer Circuit.
Tabuena, his confidence high after stints in amateur and pro events, assembled another two-under medal score of 70 that boosted Canlubang to match its opening day score of 156 for a 36-hole aggregate of 312.
While Philippe Winsett-Palanca and Bernice Olivarez-Ilas ushered Alabang to a virtually unassailable lead in Division III with similar 49s, Alabang’s bid for the Division III was threatened by a surging Aguinaldo squad.
Justin Dy came through with a superb 55 points to spark his team’s 15-point comeback that saw the Aguinaldo kids assemble a 139 and tie Alabang at 267. It remains a three-cornered fight though as the Manila Southwoods troika of brothers Ivan and Ryan Monsalve and Mia Legaspi stood at 264.
The ICTSI Jungolf Summer Circuit is also supported by Pancake House Group, Teriyaki Boy, Sizzilin Pepper, Dynamic Sports and Leisure Corp., Philippine Airlines, McDonald’s, Smart, Golf Depot and Pioneer Insurance.
There was a shakeup in the individual standings although Tabuena padded his lead to nine over teammate Jobim Carlos at 112 in the centerpiece boys Class A.
Emerging as the new leaders in their respective divisions were Andie Unson and Daniella Uy of The Country Club in girls Class A and Class B, respectively, Justin Dy in boys Class C, Miggy Yee of Southwoods in boys Class B, Sam Bruce of Aguinaldo in girls Class D, Kristoffer Arevalo in boys Class B and Arnie Taguines of Navy in girls Class F.
Mia Legaspi stayed on top in girls Class C, Josh Jorge and Bernice Olivares-Ilas were still the leaders in Class E and Jed Dy kept a tight grip of the boys Class F upper hand.
