MANILA, Philippines - The country’s finest karters test their skills at the challenging Batangas Racing Circuit track as the 2010 Magnolia Purewater Karting Super Series stages its second leg this weekend in Rosario, Batangas.
Two-time champ Stefano Marcelo of San Miguel Corporation-Maranello-Marcelo Racing eyes solo leadership as he guns for a back-to-back victory in this event sanctioned by the Automobile Association Philippines and sponsored by Magnolia Purewater, San Miguel Corp., Petron, Denso Iridium Power, Motorstar and Aeromed.
Making his comeback trail in the local karting scene, the 18-year-old Marcelo swept all three races to rule both the premier ROK Overall and ROK Senior classes in the kickoff leg.
His goal is to sweep all the races this season in his quest to equal the historic feats of Pepon Marave and Edgen Dy-Liacco who bagged three career Karter of the Year plums.
Marave now plays coach for the Ready2Race Team while Dy-Liacco is currently the mentor of PCR-Tough Gear-Fern C Racing.
