Folayang, Manguray top draw in URCC tiff
MANILA, Philippines - The University Reality Combat Championship will feature a pair of championship bouts to spice up its Colt 45 URCC XVI dubbed “The Reckoning” slated tomorrow at the events hall of the A. Venue in Makati City.
Former wushu Southeast Asian Games gold medalist Eduard Folayang will fight Korean Dooje Chung for the welterweight title while ageless Angelito Manguray fights Badong Domasian for the lightweight crown in the event presented by Colt 45.
“We’re expecting exciting fight day,” said Colt 45 brand manager Greg Anonas in yesterday’s press conference at the Yoshinoya of the SM Mall of Asia._
Although focus will be on Folayang, who has reaped honors for the country on the international stage as a wushu artist, Davao-based Manguray, a 42-year-old dentist, is expected to provide some of the day’s highlights after going undefeated in two URCC fights.
“He’s the Randy Couture of Philippine mixed martial arts. You have to see him fight, he’s really a delight to watch,” said URCC founder and chief Alvin Aguilar.
Tickets for the event pegged at P1,000 and P500 are now available at Ticketnet. The first bout starts at 7 p.m. with the bantamweight clash between Jerson Estoro and Roldan Cartagena. Three more bantamweight fights are scheduled in the event which has Tribal Gear and My PLDT Watchpad as the other sponsors with Solar Sports, Solar TV, NU107, and 99.5RT as media partners.
Meantime, PLDT Mydsl subscribers can watch the fight live via the PLDT watchpad.
Also expected to draw attention in the card also supported by VRP Medical Center, SEAIR, Chris Sports, Yoshinoya and Padi’s Point is the heavyweight showdown between Igor Subora of Ukraine and Nicholas Mann.
