MANILA, Philippines - Two-time Tour champions Victor Espiritu and Warren Davadilla will head the roster of 120 top professional riders who will strut their stuff in this weekend’s Koten-PCSO Summer Cycling Classic.
With total purse at stake reaching P250,000, the two-stage winner-take-all event is supported by the Philippine Sports Commission, Triathlon Association of the Philippines, Powerade, Viva Mineral Water, Grace of Shekinah School-Bulacan, Batang Tagaytay, Reli Tours and Travel, Nueva Ecija Vice Gov. Edward Joson and the City of Tagaytay.
The bikathon will kick off with a 161-kilometer run from Tagaytay City to Marikina tomorrow, to be concluded with an equally challenging 151-km run from Marikina to Cabanatuan City the following day.
The other seasoned riders in the fold are former titleholders Arnel Quirimit, Santy Barnachea, Joel Calderon, John Mark Guevarra, Lloyd Lucien Reynante, Sherwin Carrera, Merculio Ramos, Bernard Luzon and Baler Ravina.
The Koten-PCSO Summer Cycling Classic is the first point-to-point multi-stage event this year to be sanctioned by PhilCycling under Tagaytay City Mayor Bambol Tolentino, who will also be at the helm of the Tour de Isla Filipinas International event slated next month.
