Vergara-Lagaras pair leads dance winners

MANILA, Philippines - Brian Ocana and Karla Stephanie Ocana outclassed Emmanuel Reyes and Maira Rosete to capture the Grade A standard discipline of 2010 DCSPI 1st Quarter Ranking and Competition recently at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium.

Dancesport Council of the Philippine Inc. president Becky Garcia said the dancing athletes to be selected for this year’s Guangzhou Asian Games will be chosen based on points they gathered in previous national tournaments including this event.

Other winners in the Latin A event was the pair of Ronnie Steeve Vergara and Charlea Lagaras who beat John Erolle Melencio and Dearlie Gerodias in the one day tournament supported by the Philippine Sports Commission, Philippine Olympic Committee, Department of Tourism, Philippine Reclamation Authority, PCSO, Pagcor, NU107, Savannah Moon, Water Zone, Studio 116, The Manila Times and GNK Ballroom & Café Restaurant.

The next DanceSport competition is scheduled on July 17.

Special guest who graced the event was PSC chairman Harry Angping and DSCPI board of directors made up of Noel Laman, Gloria Alcala, Atty. Andy Fornier, Marvie Cojuangco-Yulo, Chona Mercado, Emma Nieto, Rebecca Jose, Nanette Mendoza, Manette Agbayani, Margie Vitug and Girme Gutierrez.
