MANILA, Philippines - Hector Samonte and Fernando San Luis combined for a net 133 to emerge the overall champion in the third Summit Point Invitational golf tournament of the Summit Point Golf and Country Club in Lipa, Batangas recently.
Samonte netted a six-under 66 while San Luis backed him up with a 67 at the Robert Trent Jones Jr.-designed layout as they topped a field of 100 teams, which joined the 18-hole member-guest tournament.
Nemie Astrakhan (81) and Carlos Tuason (82) teamed up for a 163 and the low gross plum.
Division prizes went to Dennis Gonzales-Gabriel Uy in Group 1, Narciso Dimapilis-Nemesio Divina in Group 2, Paul Sanchez-Wilson Guado in Group 3 and Mel Sotto-Joey del Rosario in Group 4 who all received elegant trophies from Summit Point president Robbie Leviste.
The tournament’s sponsors were Dynamic Sports, Leisure Max Co., Summit Point Realty, Lemans Inc., J & W Golf Links, Aquadyne, Sta. Lucia Realty & Dev’t Inc., Royal Caribbean International, Rizgolf Trophies, Tobi and Exotik Restaurant.
Rodolfo de Leon and his partner Armando Carandang took home the grand raffle prizes. De Leon won an Alaska Cruise on board the Royal Caribbean International and Carandang got the corresponding partner prize, a 36-inch LG LCD television.
Gonzales and Uy tallied a combined 145 for a five-stroke victory over the Japanese tandem of Yukioshi Otani-Shinichi Ogihara; Dimapilis-Divina had a 134 to beat Diosdado Bautista-Manolo Agojo by four; Sanchez-Guado assembled a 142 to win by one over Gregorio Salvador-Roel de Castro and Sotto-del Rosario (143) finished a stroke ahead of Armand Arias-Norman Aberion.
Summit Point general manager James Balagtas said a summer of fun and excitement awaits the club members and guests with the course in top shape.
