Asuncion bares big plans for 2010 GT Series

-

MANILA, Philippines - His passion for speed and cars got him into competitive motorsports. And in just a short time, John Asuncion reached the pinnacle of his career when he bagged a Golden Wheel trophy for being the GT 200 champion of Grand Touring Car Championship recently at the Pagcor Grand Theater of the Casino Filipino Parañaque.

Asuncion, a real estate developer by profession, has been one of the budding drivers in the field of circuit car racing the past two years with the big support of Thunderbird Resorts Inc., Flying V, Seattle’s Best Coffee, Greendot Realty Corp., Recaro Seats and Thermotec Products.

Last season, he passed the acid test when he emerged the GT 200 champion of the Grand Touring Car Championship series, turning back top favorites and more experienced rivals William Tan and and third placer JP Tuason.

He credited his big victory to the great job of Titan Go of Titan Works in collaboration with Dax Santiano in the preparation and racing quality of his Honda Civic Hatch.

This season, Asuncion bared plans of reaching another plateau as the 2010 Grand Touring Car Championship series unfolds April 24-25 at the Batangas Racing Circuit.

“I’m thankful to the recognition given by The Golden Wheel Award Foundation, headed by Johnny Tan who had been the prime mover of the continuous growth of the Philippine Motorsports Community and has been the source of inspiration for Filipino drivers and riders to achieve racing excellence,” said Asuncion.
