MANILA, Philippines - The PLDT-PMI Admirals battled back from 13 points down to pull off a come-from-behind 74-63 victory over the KGB Rebels and rule the first conference of the sixth Hoops Challenge at the Club 650 Sports Center recently.
The Admirals trailed the Rebels by 13 points in the opening period but worked their back into the game in the next two quarters before outscoring their rivals, 25-15, in the last period to fashion out the victory.
Marlon Cruz led the Admirals’ charge with 15 points while Stanley Tan had 14, King Dy chipped in 12 and Andre de la Peña had 11 points.
KGB’s Jade Padrigo scored a game-high 31 points but the Rebels failed to draw support from the rest of the squad.
Meanwhile, the Admirals shoot for back-to-back win in the league’s second conference, co-presented by Wrigley’s Doublemint Gum, which unfolds later this month.
Joining the tournament are the Coach E Basketball School, Accenture and Metro, according to tournament director Tyrone Limon.
