MANILA, Philippines - Alabang-Fuschia assembled a gross 67 to capture the overall low gross championship while Tagaytay Highlands-2 bagged the low net crown in the 43rd Dominga Capati golf tournament at the south course of the Canlubang Golf and Country Club in Laguna last week.
The Alabang golfers rattled off four birdies at the backside and finished with a 35-32 card under the Modified team scramble format as they ran away with the overall crown in the annual tournament held in honor of the former Yulo ward.
Members of the Alabang-Fuschia team were Christine Popp, Rita Horan, Carol Nielson, Eden Hamilton, Belinda Eberle and Offie Carlos.
Tagaytay Highlands-2, led by Dionne Cu and Christel Mamaril, strung up nines of 36-37 for a 73 to win the net honors with a 63 while Canlubang 1, headed by Lucy Landicho and Lina de Guzman, settled for runner-up honors with a gross 69 and a net 68 in the event which drew 15 teams.
Other members of the Highlands-2 squad were Becky Albert, Lilbeth de Villa, Rosalind Wee and Erli Gamut while Ana Rodriguez, Detsy Laurel, Harumi Ieda and Ayako Ishida backed Landicho and De Guzman in the Cangolf-1 team.
Aguinaldo-1 and Sta. Elena-1 finished tied for third with net 69s while Alabang-Green wound up with a 70 in a tie with Aguinaldo-2 and Canlubang-2.
Forest Hills-Nicklaus had a 71, Sta. Elena-2 came through with a 72 while Villamor and Forest Hills-Palmer turned in identical 75s followed by Valley Golf (76) and Manila Golf (78).
