Ateneo rules college golf

MANILA, Philippines - Ateneo bagged its first Inter-Collegiate Golf Championship presented by the Philippine Golf Foundation by beating College of St. Benilde in the Finals recently at its home turf in Splendido Taal Golf and Country Club.

After splitting the first round of the Finals, 1-1, at the Canlubang Golf, the Blue Eagles bested the Blazers in the best ball and high-low matches to win the third edition of the golf championship.

Ateneo’s Edsel Tan and Rocco Sumabat edged the CSB tandem of Jepe Dulay and Mac Arevalo in the best ball, 2-1, while the Eagles’ Ayon Sanchez and Jap Atienza defeated the Blazers’ duo of Miko Yee and Marco Olize in the high-low, 4-2.

Other schools, which participated in the inter-collegiate golf, were La Salle, the champion in the first two editions; University of Asia and the Pacific, University of the Philippines and Lyceum.
