Pharex targets semis; Fern-C fights for life

-

MANILA, Philippines - Pharex B-Complex shoots for the first semifinal seat today as it collides with AddMix even as Fern-C fights for survival against Ascof Lagundi in the PBL PG Flex Erase Placenta Cup at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig.

The Pharex Fighting Maroons hope to break out of a three-way tie with Excelroof and Cossack Blue as they gun for their fifth win in six games against the AddMix Transformers in the 2 p.m. opener.

Clashing at 4 p.m. are Fern-C and Ascof Lagundi with the Ferntastics, with only a win to show against four losses, needing a win to keep their flickering semis hopes alive.

The top four teams after the single round elims will advance to the Final Four with the top two teams earning the twice-to-beat advantage.

Out of the race is Agri-FCA, which dropped its first five games.

Meantime, PBL chairman Ding Camua of Pascual Laboratories announced that the reported resignation of commissioner Chino Trinidad will be discussed by the board upon his return from the United States.

“We can’t discuss his planned resignation because there’s no official letter yet. We just read it in the newspapers, so it’s better that we focus on the games,” said Camua. “The tournament is getting hotter and exciting.”
