Que five shots off

-

MANILA, Philippines - Angelo Que made a double bogey on his homeward trip on No. 6 and settled for a two-under 70 to trail joint leaders Rhys Davies and Ignacio Garrido by five at the start of the rich Malaysian Open at the Kuala Lumpur Golf and Country Club in Malaysia yesterday.

Que stumbled with a bogey on No. 12 but rammed in five birdies in a seven-hole stretch linking both nines only to reel back with that double-bogey mishap on the par-4 No. 6.

Still, he emerged the top Filipino placer in joint 28th as the two other RP bets struggled with Juvic Pagunsan carding a 74 and Mars Pucay limping with a 75 after birdying two of the first three holes at the back.

Davies used a solid frontside stint of five birdies to fire a bogey-free seven-under 65 matched by Garrido’s eagle-spiked 31-34 round marred by a bogey on No. 7.

The duo posted a one-shot lead over Kim Dae-hyun and Thai ace Thongchai Jaidee, who both had 66s. while Mark Haastrup, KJ Choi, Mark Foster and Alejandro Canizares all turned in 67s.
