MANILA, Philippines - Sister teams Cobra Energy Drink and Cossack Blue dispute the early lead in the 2010 PBL PG Flex-Erase Placenta Cup when they clash today at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig City.
Cobra and Cossack, in a three-way tie for the lead with Excelroof at 2-0, square off at 2 p.m. Ascof Lagundi eyes a second straight win when it meets Pharex B at 4 o’clock.
Ascof and Pharex B are also sister teams, making today’s double-header a family affair.
Ascof Lagundi, the main team of Pascual Laboratories, got off to a slow start, losing its first two games before pulling off a close win over AddMix the other day.
Coached by Carlo Tan, Ascof Lagundi is hoping that a second straight win will finally make up for its stunning loss to Excelroof in the opening day.
They also lost to Cossack Spirits, 87-88, last Tuesday but Tan believes that their 80-76 win over the stubborn AddMix two days back will give them the momentum.
“We stayed together and showed some resiliency after losing our first two games,” said Tan, again expected to rely on San Beda star Bam Gamalinda, Sean Co and JR Gerilla.
But the Pharex Fighting Maroons are certainly no pushovers because coach Aboy Castro and his boys – Woody Co, Vic Manuel, Marlon Adolfo and Arvin Braganza – are out to make a statement as well.
