Cristobal tops MCC tilt

MANILA, Philippines - Paolo Kristian Cristobal beat Reu Sebolino in 34 moves of an English game to rule the premier section of MCC Kiddies (16-under) Chess Tourney at St. Francis Square in Mandaluyong City over the weekend.

The 14-year-old Cristobal of San Sebastian swept the seven-round tournament put up by the MCC. He won P1,500.

Claudio Olar Jr. of Quirino High School upended Carmella Galve after 44 moves of a Quioco Piano to finish second while Mark Joseph Medrano defeated Raymund Dagan in 43 moves of an Orthodox opening to place third.
