MANILA, Philippines - Philippine Women’s University, San Beda College Alabang and Centro Escolar University booked two wins recently to take the early lead in the sixth Men’s National Collegiate Athletic Association (MNCAA).
PWU blasted Chiang Kai Shek College, 97-75, while SBCA downed defending champion La Consolacion College Manila, 62-52, at the LCCM gym to share the basketball lead.
CEU outlasted University of Asia and the Pacific, 82-74, to tie LCCM in second spot at 1-1.
PWU and SBCA dispute the top position at 10:30 a.m. today.
In volleyball competition at the CEU gym, defending champion PWU scored straight-sets victories over LCCM, 25-19, 25-16, 25-15, and CKSC, 25-15, 25-13, 25-13.
CEU is likewise in top form after dominating CKSC, 25-8, 25-15, 25-14, and surviving SBCA, 25-19, 25-23, 23-25, 25-22.
They can stretch their win streak to three today if PWU prevails over UA&P in their 9 a.m. encounter and CEU beats LCCM in the 12 noon main match.
SBCA and UA&P occupy second place at 1-1 while CKSC and LCCM are still winless in two outings.
