MANILA, Philippines - The University of the East Jr. Warriors Team B swept its way to championship in the Northball Basketball League, completing the feat with a 119-68 bashing of Sergio Osmeña High School Wednesday at the Bagong Pagasa covered court.
“We came out aggressive from start to finish,” said UE head coach Mark Herrera in their conquest of Osmeña HS in the final game.
“Our players played their best and I’m really proud of them. They are younger and less experienced and yet, they showed maturity and confidence in their games,” added Herrera, who is also the head coach of the RP Youth under-13 team.
The UE Jr. Warriors Team B is composed of Ronnie de Leon, JC Mendoza, Alfred Pajarillaga, Anselmo Martinez, Dean Martin, Matthew Bernabe, Ian Macaranas, Joshue Diswe, Miguel Magpantay, John Calma, Hubert Cani, Russell Santiago, Milo Castro, JC Peñaflor, JP Rodriguez, Shervin Gutierrez, Isiah Banawa and JC Duncil. Herrera is assisted by Edwin Ancheta and Jeus Albano.
Herrera has been fielding his team in leagues like Northball as part of his program for the team gearing up for the UAAP juniors basketball competition.
“This league will help develop the skills of the newly recruited players of the Jr. Warriors and will prepare them for the more serious basketball tournaments such as the UAAP,” said Herrera.
