Go seeks 2nd win in row in drag racing

MANILA, Philippines - Anthony Go of JCT-Blanche Racing faces another tough challenge against fancied rivals as he guns for a second straight win in the combined 2010 National Drag Racing Championship and 2010 Philippine Drag Racing Championship-Northern Series tomorrow at the Clark International Speedway in Clark, Pampanga.

A victory will give Go the solo lead in the premiere Pro class, now the new basis in selecting the Drag Racing Driver of the Year in this event sanctioned by the Automobile Association Philippines.

He pulled an impressive triumph in the last leg where he bounced back from the loser’s bracket then turned back his opponents to complete his come-from-behind victory.

Out to foil his bid are ace drivers John Ryzia of Ahra Garage Power, top lady driver When When Dagondon of Vannitec and the Ilocano racing brothers Ed Christopher and Christian Go.

Ryzia, the first leg winner, is also seeking the solo lead in his 1969 classic V8 Chevy muscle car while Dagondon is raring to put one over her male rivals after earning the “RP’s Fastest Lady Driver” honors with her new fastest all-motor Honda single cam record of 12.065 seconds.

Ed Christopher Go finished second in the last leg while Ed Christian Go, who wound up third, is the current Pro class champion.

Joining the chase for leg honors are Vannitec’s Mark Molina and Vanni Garcia, retired serviceman Steve Caldwell of Ahra Garage Power and defeding champion Jonathan Tiu of JCT-Blanche Racing who’s eyeing an unprecedented seventh straight crown.

Ed Christian Go, on the other hand, seeks another win in the Quick 8 division up against Mark Molina and Mato Tan of Vannitec.

Also favored in other divisions of the event, supported by San Miguel Corp., Pilipinas Shell, Yokohama, Pagcor, Aeromed, Hastings Motor Corporation, Sel J Pharma-Therasil Lozenges, Inside Racing and Stoplight TV are Jonathan Young of JCT-Blanche Racing, Lewy Manio of Jywell-Comet and Reymar Mariano of Mohspeed.
