Hope clinches last semis berth

MANILA, Philippines - Hope Christian High School downed Uno High School, 74-63, to claim the fourth and last semis berth in the Freego Metro Manila Tiong Lian Basketball Association (MMTLBA) tournament at the Chiang Kai Shek gym in Tondo over the weekend.

With Janrey Garrido and Jessiery Pedrosa on the firing end, Hope Christian seized control early then coasted to their third straight victory in the tournament presented by Fresh Gear Revolution Denim.

Garrido led Hope Christian with 24 points, including 10 in the final quarter, as he helped quell Uno’s fightback to within 59-63 with three minutes left in the contest.

The victory set Hope Christian a Final Four duel with No. 2 seed St. Jude Catholic School tomorrow in the tournament backed by Fern-C, 100 Plus Isotonic Sports Drink, Outlast Battery, Rusty Lopez, Puma, Converse, Burlington, Davis Paint, MEC Computer, Molten, Bantex Sandals and Bow and Wow – the Natural Pets Food Store.
