MANILA, Philippines - Chiang Kai Shek College, drawing another big game from Paul Aduana, demolished St. Stephen’s High School, 60-47, to claim the third semis berth in the Freego-Metro Manila Tiong Lian Basketball Association (MMTBLA) Wednesday at the Chiang Kia Shek College gym in Tondo.
Aduana finished with 20 points on an impressive 9-of-13 shooting from the field apart posting six rebounds and four assists to clinch his second Freego Player of the Game award in the tournament presented by Fresh Gear Revolution Denim.
The Blue Dragons tallied a 23-point lead thrice in the first half before the Stephenians rallied to within 41-52 early in the third quarter. But it proved to be their last gallant stand as Aduana strung up four straight baskets for the Blue Dragons for a commanding 60-43 lead.
With the win, the Blue Dragons joined early semifinalists defending champion Xavier School and St. Jude Catholic School. The semis start on Feb. 10.
Hope Christian High School and Uno High School dispute the fourth and last semis berth in the tournament backed by Fern-C, 100 Plus Isotonic Sports Drink, Outlast Battery, Rusty Lopez, Puma, Converse, Burlington, Davis Paint, MEC Computer, Molten, Bantex Sandals and Bow & Wow the Natural Pets Food Store.
The winner between Hope Christian and Uno will face St. Jude while the Golden Stallions and Blue Dragons clash in the other semis pair.
Uno earned a quarterfinals meeting with Hope Christian after downing Grace Christian College, 68-61, through the efforts of Isaiah and Isaac Lim who scored 17 and 16 points, respectively.
Meantime, delect games of tournament are aired on IBC 13 every Saturday at 10:30 a.m.
