US cue master frustrates Bata

MANILA, Philippines - Efren ”Bata” Reyes fell short of his title bid, losing to American John Brumback in the final of the 12th Annual Derby City Classic 9-Ball Banks at the Horseshoe Casino and Hotel in Indiana Tuesday.

Brumback came through with tough shots to frustrate Reyes, completing a 3-0 romp to pocket the top $10,000 prize.

The 55-year-old Reyes settled for the $5,000 (P240,000).

American Larry Nevel won $3,000 for placing third in one of the three events featured in the annual tournament.

The nine-day event also offers 9-ball and One Pocket events which offers a combined cash prize of $40,000.
