CJH Chair Cup attracts big field
MANILA, Philippines - The 10th Camp John Hay Chairman’s Cup gets going Jan. 16-17 with a huge field featuring club members and their guests expected to vie for top honors in various divisions at the Camp John Hay Golf Club in Baguio City.
Up for grabs are the overall championship and the low gross with the top three placers in each category, including Class A (0-9), Class B (10-15), Class C (16-19), Class D (20-above), the ladies and guest/sponsors divisions, also receiving fabulous prizes.
Tee off time is at 6 a.m. on Saturday while the final day will have a shotgun start at 7 a.m., according to the organizing committee. The awards rites will start at 2 p.m. on Sunday at the CJH Golf Club Verandah.
LCD TVs will also be staked as hole-in-one prizes, including on No. 4 (32”), No. 11 (21”), No. 13 (19”), No. 15 (32”) and No. 18 (42”). Wilson is also offering a brand new golf set for ace on No. 6.
The tournament, sponsored by Wilson Sports, Golforce, Inc., Asia Pacific Golf Corp., Federal Management and Maintenance Inc., Camp John Hay Manor, Poblador, Bautista and Reyes Law Offices, Rizgolf Sport Marketing, Le Chef and Boracay Sands, will be played under the Stableford scoring format for members while the guest/sponsors division will use the Molave scoring system.
Jong Won Park, a six-handicapper who captured the low gross title last year, is expected to be back to defend his crown along with overall champion Florentino David and the other division winners.
They include ladies champ Mary Jane Prooi, Rommel Gomez (Class A), Ed Montenegro (Class B), Dan Tenefrancia (Class C) and Mario Fores (Class D).
The other chief backers are Fairways and Bluewater Golf and Coutry Club, Camp John Hay Development Corp., The Manila Southwoods Manor, The Manila Southwoods Golf and Country Club, The Baguio Country Club, Forest Hills Golf and Country Club, Sherwood Hills Country Club and Mt. Malarayat Golf and Country Club.
Others expected to see action are Marianne Bustos, Hye Young Lee, Morris Domogan, Joon Ahn, Ho Kwon Kim, Paul Quitiquit, Herr Bautista, Inoc Laranang, Tony Verzosa and Tony Garcia.
