MANILA, Philippines - Eli Malaya and Doods Antipuesto put in a pair of solid rounds to capture the top two scoring honors in the Manila Southwoods’ Chairman’s Charity Cup at the Masters and Legends courses of the Carmona, Cavite layout last Sunday.
Malaya, a 9-handicapper, fired a gross 70 worth 44 points under the Modified Stableford scoring system to emerge the low gross champion while Antipuesto, with a 13-handicap, shot a 77, also worth 44 points, as he copped the net title in the annual event spread over two days.
Kim Chang Ho scored 41 points from a gross 76 as he ruled Division I with Bae Il Soo (75) and Gil Cu-Unjieng (75) finishing second and third, respectively, with similar 40 points.
Jed Rosero topped Division II with 44 points from a gross 77, nipping Anil Sehwani, who also had 44 from a gross 79, in the countback while Joel Dayrit (80) placed third with 43. Rolando Cabredo copped the Division III crown with 44 points (gross 83), also edging Hou Chin Chih, who also shot a 44 (gross 83), in the countback. Ricardo Bernabe finished third with 43 points from a gross 86.
Other winners in the event, also held to generate funds for victims of Typhoon Ondoy, were Eugene Lee Villanueva (Division IV-44 points from a gross 95), Cho Hae Sun (Ladies Division I-41 points from a gross 79), Hsieh Lanfen (Ladies Division II-44 points from a gross 80), Mario Badillo (Seniors I-44 points from a gross 76), Bernie Bernardo (Seniors II-44 points from a gross 75) and Buddy Velayo (Guests/Sponsors- net 71 from a gross 83).
