De Castro, Santiago top AGC monthly golf

MANILA, Philippines - Ruel de Castro and Larry Santiago turned in fine rounds to top their respective divisions in the Architects Golf Club monthly tournament at the Eagle Ridge Golf and Country Club’s Dye Course in Cavite.

De Castro shot a gross 96 for a net 80 as he beat seven-handicapper Adones Baluyut, who carded a gross 89, and Darwin Averion, who had a net 86 from a gross 102, for the Group I crown.

Santiago, on the other hand, scored a gross 99 for a net 82 to win the Group II plum over Chris Ong, who had a 107 for a net 86, and Alvin Vega, who had a 106 for a net 87.

Meanwhile, Baluyut took the golfer of the year honors in Group I, beating Boy Alcantara, while Henry Wee-Ebol topped Group II over Jun Bonifacio. Benny Velasco bested Paeng Villanueva to cop the Group III title; Greg Concepcion edged Eymard Agbing for the Group IV diadem; while Ajero took the Group V title over Alex Hilario.

Neil Magkilat shot a gross 102 for a net 77 to post a three-shot win over Manny Lozano, who had a net 80 from a gross 105, in Group III.
