MANILA, Philippines - Alley Quisay of Team Army and Marecil Maquilao of Team Bald Runner dominated their respective events to share top honors in the New Balance Power Run...Raising HOPE at Fort Bonifacio Global City recently.
Quisay turned in a 1:15:59 clocking to top the men’s division of the 21k event while Maquilao clocked 1:27:33 to run away with the ladies crown in the event which drew 6,500 participants.
Alquin Bolivar of Team Bald Runner finished second to Quisay in 1:16:05 while Cresencio Sabal of Team Gunstart was timed 1:16:08 for third.
Aileen Tolentino of Team Gunstart clocked 1:34:25 to finish second in the ladies side while Belle Grandinetti of South Tri placed third in 1:48:22.
On hand during the awards rites were Justice Dante Tinga, Taguig Councilor AP Bartolome and Anton Gonzalez, president of Planet Sports, Inc.
Meanwhile, organizers said P400,000 were raised for cancer projects, which was turned over to Carewell Community, ICanServe Foundation, Philippine Cancer Society and Natasha Goulbourn Foundation.
Team Bald Runner, meanwhile, stamped its class in the men’s 10k event with Elmer Sabal winning in 0:32:20 and Crifrank Readel Indapan finishing second with a 0:32:26 clocking. Rogie Ascano of FRC had a 0:35:43 clocking for third.
Genevieve dela Peña ruled the distaff side in 0:45:05, beating Ana Vargaz of Team Bald Runner, who clocked 0:45:19. Melody Yap placed third in 0:48:24.
Johnny Espana, also of Team Bald Runner, topped the men’s 5k in 0:16:24 with teammate Raul Lamprea finishing second in 0:17:10. Richard Delfin of Team UP Truck finished third in 0:17:28.
Nhea Ann Barcena reigned in the ladies side in 0:20:44 followed by 11-year-old Michelle de Vera in 0:21:09. Merlyn Lumagbas submitted a 0:21:55 clocking for third.
