Northern series dragfest at Clark

-

MANILA, Philippines - The 2010 Philippine Drag Racing Championship-Northern Series kicks off on Saturday, at the Clark International Speedway.

The American V8 muscle cars make their comeback against sleek four-cyclinder vehicles in this event sanctioned by the Automobile Association Philippines and sponsored by San Miguel Corporation, Pilipinas Shell, San Mig Coffee, Yokohama, PagCor, Aeromed, Hastings Motor Corporation and Stoplight TV.

Ken Kepner’s Camaro and John Ryzia’s 1968 Chevy that proved to be forces to deal with winding up among the top contenders in last year’s title quest.

“These American muscle cars are consistent showstoppers. Only a few of these vintage cars are left here in the Philippines and it’s a rare experience seeing them competitively racing on a fast race track,” said BRC Drag racing director Fil Gulfin who urges all participants to come early for the registration and the qualifying runs starting at 9 a.m.

Gulfin also expressed his gratitude to the support and participation of the drivers and their respective teams as he expects another record field joining this season.

Also raring to prove his supremacy is defending champion Jonathan Tiu of JCT-Blanche Racing who will be gunning for an unprecedented seventh straight crown.

Fans and spectators are eager to see Tiu shatter his very own existing Clark International Speedway all-time fastest quarter-mile record of 9.223 seconds.
