MANILA, Philippines - Christian Gaddi lived up to the hype as he bagged the overall Mini-Rok championship in the Magnolia Purewater Super Karting Series at the Clark International Speedway recently.
The JeT Racing Team standout swept the pre-final and final races of the series to formally claim the overall title with 508.5 points for his first Mini-Rok championship in the National Series.
Gaddi’s turned back the challenge of Basti Escalante and Kali Carcel en route to victory.
“I was just all pumped up going into the pre-final and final races. I felt that I had to win the two final races just to sort of end the season on a high note,” said Gaddi, a Grade 4 student of Claret School in Quezon City.
The two-time Golden Wheel and Automobile Association of the Philippines (AAP) Karter of the Year actually almost pulled off a double triumph but lost in the final heat in the Asian Karting Open Championship (Akoc) in Thailand.
The 10-year-old Gaddi held the going into the final leg but was bumped from behind, forcing him to spin out of the race.
Gaddi, backed by Bingo Bonanza and Industria, still emerged as Asian Championship runner-up, settled for runner-up honors.
