MANILA, Philippines - Gwynne Capacio scored all of his 24 points in the second half as he powered Health Solutions-Las Piñas/Muntinlupa to a 69-60 win over BMEG Integra-Manila at the start of the Nokia National Basketball Training Center D-League NCR/Luzon leg at the Jacinto Tiu gym of the Xavier Sports Center.
Capacio, son of FEU coach and former PBA player Glenn Capacio, spiked his awesome shooting with three triples as Health Solutions bounced back from a 38-23 halftime deficit en route to the win in the 18-and-under tournament backed by Nokia Philippines and TAO Corp. under the auspices of the Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas.
Luigi de la Paz tallied 10 points as Health Solutions outscored BMEG Integra, 46-22, in the second half of the event backed by San Miguel Pure Foods Company, Smart Communications and Burlington.
BMEG Integra leaned on Nokia RP U16 mainstay Kevin Ferrer, who scored 13 points.
Natural Tarlac drew 25 points from Gian Lumagui as it nipped Blue Boy Nepo Angeles City, 76-74, in overtime.
Lumagui combined with Norris Hernandez for 11 of the team’s final 15 points to ensure the victory.
In other games, Jerome Quiambao and John Manabat combined for 40 points as Energen Pampanga routed Smart Pampanga, 73-58, while Smart Manila drew double-digits from Arthur de la Cruz, Terence Romeo, Rinzo Goradera and Mike Tolomia for an 89-70 rout of San Mig Coffee Pasig Mandaluyong.
Calamba City-Blue bested Trace College-Los Baños Red, 49-45; Pa Ortega blasted La Union National High School, 67-53; QPL Red beat QPL Blue, 62-55; EAC ICA Dasmariñas routed Smart Illustrados Dasma, 63-46; Smart Batangas City (Lipa) downed B-Meg Premium Batangas City, 61-42; ABC Ideas turned back St. Joseph, 71-63; Magnolia Chocolait Parañaque beat Burlington Pasay/Makati/Taguig, 41-35; and Xavier San Juan bested Smart Caloocan, 78-68.
